Wedding invitations are different from invitations that are bought for birthdays. They let guests know about the wedding and give an important preview about the style of the event. Invites come in a few basic varieties that say something different about each wedding. Typical invitations are small and somewhat plain cards with information about the couple and wedding day included. More couples are using photo cards that show off the couple's engagement photos. There are cards that look like greeting cards and cards that are complex with different shapes and accented styling. Each card works for specific kinds of weddings.
The Groom's parents are issuing the invitation: Use the wording as above but include the bride's surname: i.e. Mr. & Mrs. Peter Brown request the pleasure of your company at the marriage of Sally Smith to their son John The couple are paying for their own wedding: They may still wish to issue the invitation on behalf of Sally and/or John's parents or if not, they use their own first and last names.
